Once we understand that, fear is a liar, as believers, we become unstoppable. As we get into God’s word, we will learn who He is, we will long for His presence, we will choose intimate time with Him.
Once we begin to see who He is, we learn who we are, our identity rests in the balance of who He is and who He purposed us to be.
Once we lock our eyes on THAT purpose, it becomes clearer and clearer why it matters to get in the Word, to get to know Who He is, to immerse our identity in Him.
Fear robs us of that whole process because the Bible says that perfect love casts out all fear. Jesus is the only perfect love. Therefore, we can conclude that fear stands between us and perfect love. However, if in fear we choose perfect love (Jesus), He will cast out that fear and give us the courage to complete the mission (our purpose). Which is why we can agree with what the Bible says: I can do all things through Christ because He gives me strength to do so.
I’m not saying that we will never experience fear if we follow Jesus. What I’m saying is fear cannot overpower Jesus’s love. Fear has to flee in the presence of Jesus’s love for us. Jesus’s love gives us the courage to work through our fears. Each time we let Jesus have the spotlight over our fears, we gain momentum in courage to work against that fear, for the next fear.
